Every project is different.

I combine lean UX, Agile, and design thinking frameworks and adapt my approach based on project size, need, and risk level.

Discovery

Every project starts with a few simple questions:

  • What problem are we solving for the user and/or business?
  • What’s the risk if it isn’t solved?
  • If starting with a solution, why this particular approach, how does it solve the problem, and what other solutions were considered?

Activities I use

  • Requirements gathering
  • Project plans

Research & design

If research is needed, I partner with the PM to plan and execute it. Research often ends up bleeding into multiple project phases as learning evolves.

Based on project needs, scope, and constraints, I either create a proof of concept to gather early stakeholder feedback or collaborate with the team to generate, iterate on, and refine solutions.

Activities I use

  • Requirements documentation
  • Heuristic evaluations
  • Process mapping
  • User flows
  • Information architecture
  • Primary customer research
  • User interviews
  • Surveys
  • Competitive analysis
  • Research synthesis
  • Low to mid fidelity wireframes
  • Design mockups
  • Design systems
  • UI design
  • Interaction design

Prototype & test

Once we’ve landed on a solid V1, I create a clickable Figma prototype and conduct user testing. Insights are synthesized and shared with the team to guide feature prioritization and inform design decisions.

Activities I use

  • Interactive prototypes
  • Usability testing
  • Research synthesis
  • Research analysis and reports

Iterate

Designs typically go through roughly 3-5 iterations and undergo weekly design critiques before grooming with engineers.

Activities I use

  • Mid to high fidelity wireframes
  • Design critiques
  • Stakeholder management

Deliver

After finalized designs are handed off to engineering, I remain available to engineering for any questions that arise during development.

Activities I use

  • High fidelity wireframes
  • Design specifications

Software & coding languages

  • Figma
  • Jira
  • Confluence
  • Claude
  • ChatGPT
  • HTML & CSS (working knowledge)
  • Slack
